Many years had passed since the time of Ya’qub (alayhis-salam). His children, known as the Bani Isra'il, still lived in Egypt. As time went on, their families grew in number and spread throughout the land. Then, a new ruler came to power. He was called Fir'awn.

Fir'awn was a proud and arrogant king. He had a powerful kingdom, a large army, and many officials who followed his commands. He was cruel and oppressed the people. Above all, he claimed to the people: "I am your highest lord." But he was only a human being, and no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, the Creator of the universe.

To keep his power, Fir'awn divided the people of Egypt into different groups. He placed the families of Bani Isra'il under his control and forced them into hard labor every day. They worked under heavy burdens until they became weak and exhausted, with no freedom to rest or escape from his harsh commands.

Then, Fir'awn gave a cruel command: every newborn baby boy from Bani Isra'il was to be killed, while the baby girls were allowed to live. Bani Isra'il suffered under his rule for many years. But Allah knew what was happening to them, and nothing was hidden from Him.

During those years, Allah caused a baby boy named Musa to be born among Bani Isra'il. Allah protected him from the king's soldiers. He even caused baby Musa (alayhis-salam) to be safely raised right inside Fir'awn’s own palace!

When Musa (alayhis-salam) grew up, Allah chose him to be a Prophet and a messenger. Allah commanded him to return to Egypt to deliver His message to Fir’awn—that he should worship Allah alone and free Bani Isra’il.

No matter how powerful Fir’awn claimed to be, Allah is the All-Powerful Lord of the worlds. He answered the cries of the weak and oppressed people in the land and decreed to break the power of the tyrant.
