    Uthman controlled his anger

    It was the third day of Ramaḍān.

    Uthmān sat up slowly.

    His body felt heavy.

    “Ummi,” he said, “fasting feels hard today.”

    Ummi smiled and brushed his hair back.

    She reminded him that hard moments are chances to earn Allah’s reward.

    Uthmān nodded.

    He wanted to try his best today.

    Later that morning, Uthmān was coloring carefully.

    He chose his colors slowly.

    He wanted his picture to be just right.

    Everything was quiet and calm.

    Suddenly, his little sister bumped the table.

    Crayons scattered.

    The paper tore.

    Uthmān felt his face grow warm.

    I worked so hard on this.

    His mouth almost opened to shout.
