Ramadan was almost ending. Yūsuf and Maryam sat with their mother, looking at the calendar of the last ten nights. “Do you know,” she asked, “that there is a special night better than a thousand months?”

Maryam’s eyes widened. “A thousand months?” Her mother nodded. “Yes. Allah called it Laylat al-Qadr — the Night of Decree. Angels descend, and Allah’s mercy fills the earth.”

Yūsuf asked, “How can we find this night?” “The Prophet ﷺ told us,” said their mother, “to seek it in the last ten nights, especially the odd nights.”
