In the city of Makkah, there lived a young man named Muhammad ﷺ. The people of Makkah knew him well. He always told the truth, and he always kept his word

Page 2

When he was young, Muhammad ﷺ watched over the sheep of the people of Makkah. He looked after them with care and returned them safely.

Page 3

As he grew older, Muhammad ﷺ traveled with the trading caravans of his people, the Quraysh. They journeyed to distant lands for trade.

Page 4

In his dealings with people, Muhammad ﷺ was truthful. Some people of Makkah left their belongings with him to keep safe. When they came back for them, he returned everything just as it had been left.

Page 5

The people of Makkah gave Muhammad ﷺ two names. They called him As-Ṣādiq — the Truthful. And they called him Al-Amīn — the Trustworthy.

Page 6

Among the people of Makkah was a noble woman named Khadījah رضي الله عنها. She was a wise merchant whose caravans traveled to distant lands.

Page 7

Khadījah رضي الله عنها had heard people speak about the truthfulness and trustworthiness of Muhammad ﷺ. So she asked him to travel to a land called Shām and trade her goods there. Muhammad ﷺ agreed.

Page 8

Muhammad ﷺ set off with Khadījah’s رضي الله عنها servant Maysarah. They traveled to Shām with her goods. Maysarah was with him throughout the journey.

Page 9

When they returned to Makkah, Khadījah رضي الله عنها received more profit than she usually did. Maysarah told her about the good character of Muhammad ﷺ during the journey.

Page 10

The people of Makkah had seen it. Maysarah had seen it during the journey. And Allah ﷻ — who sees all things — praised His Prophet ﷺ in the Qur’an: “And indeed, you are upon a great character.” (Surah Al-Qalam 68:4)

Page 11

This is our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — the one Allah ﷻ praised. A great character begins with small things: Speaking the truth, returning what was trusted to you, leaving what does not belong to you, and being fair with others.

One day, Allah ﷻ may be pleased with your character too. In shāʾ Allāh.
