Long ago, in the land of Egypt, there was an arrogant ruler named Fir'awn. He was very cruel to Bani Israel and ordered that their newborn boys should be killed. At that time, a baby boy was born to one of the believing families. His name was Musa.

Allah inspired Musa's mother to nurse her baby. Then He told her that if she feared for him, she should place him in a chest and put it into the river. Allah also promised her: "Do not fear and do not grieve. We will return him to you and make him one of the Messengers."

Musa’s mother made a safe chest for her baby. Because her house was right on the bank of the Nile River, she would carefully place him inside the chest and tie it with a rope to keep him near. But one day, when she saw a sudden danger, she placed Baby Musa in the chest - but forgot to tie the rope! Before she could reach him, the river carried the chest away.

The river floated the chest until it reached Fir'awn’s palace. When the household of Fir'awn opened it, they found a beautiful baby boy. Fir'awn's wife looked down at him with love and said: "He will be a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him. Perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." So, Baby Musa was taken into the household of Fir'awn.

Back at home, Musa’s mother realized the basket was gone. A terrible emptiness filled her heart. She was so sad and worried that she almost told everyone what happened! But Allah gave her strength to stay patient and trust His promise. She sent Musa’s older sister to know where the river took him and find him.

Meanwhile, inside the palace, Allah did not allow Musa (alayhis-salam) to drink milk from any of the nurses brought to feed him. He refused them all. The people in the palace became deeply concerned because the baby was hungry. So they began searching everywhere for a nurse he would accept.

Musa's sister had been watching carefully from a safe distance. She came to know about this and said to them: "Should I show you a family that will take care of him for you and look after him in a good manner?" Fir’awn’s people agreed. The baby was brought back to his own mother, and he accepted her milk!

In this way, Allah returned Musa to his mother so that her heart would be happy again. Musa was still just a tiny baby in a very big world, yet Allah was perfectly taking care of him and his mother every single day
