Angels are not like you and me. Allah made them from light - clean, pure, and bright. Not the light of a lamp. Not the light of a torch. Something much greater - light that only Allah can make. We cannot see them. But they are near.

Since we cannot see them, how do we know about them? We do not guess. We do not make things up. We know because Allah told us - in the Qura'n and through His Prophet's صلى الله عليه وسلم teachings. We believe in them. And what they told us is truly wonderful.
